Brown University Students Share Their Entrepreneurial Story
A conversation about starting a company
as well as
the similarities and differences between
a 17 year old’s life and education in Providence, Rhode Island
and
a 17 year old’s life and education in the People’s Republic of China and India.

Following the Social Studies 2.0 – Life Skills program protocol, Central High School students Julio Cartagena (top left) AND Junior Brownell (bottom left) welcome today’s guests Jerry Zheng (bottom right) and Adithya Sriram a(top right) to Central High School and today’s Social Studies 2.0 – Life Skills class. Part of the protocol is exchanging BUSINESS CARDS to add both Jerry and Adi to their student NETWORKS. Jerry is an avid BASKETBALL and NBA fan majoring in ECONOMICS at Brown University. Jerry is from the city of Beijing, China. Adithya is from the city of Chennai, the capital of the state of Tamilnadu in southern India. Adi is majoring in COMPUTER SCIENCE at Brown University. Adi shared a description of India’s most popular sport, CRICKET.

Following the introductions by Julio and Junior, each student welcomes Jerry and Adi with a firm handshake, good eye contact and welcoming smile and greeting. Jacob Henderson and Sangkhim Dong lead their classmates to welcome Jerry and Adi to their class.

Daylin Aquino shares her family story and her career aspiration of sonography and ultrasound technician.

Jerry and Adi spoke about their high school educations in China and India. Both spoke about their commitment to their education. “I worked long hours each day. After school was spent studying 5, 6 or more hours. Getting good grades would enable me to go to America, get accepted at a great college like Brown and then pursue a career I really wanted to do” said Adi. Jerry agreed.
Jerry and Adi then asked the Central students to access the QR code on the board behind them to answer a few SURVEY questions about their reading experiences and interests.
